the new york times thing

It happens in every game, thousands of times in the course of a season. A player breaks free for an open jumper. An off-the-ball defender jumps at him. Whether the shot falls or not, both players run back downcourt and play on. For Louisville’s Kevin Ware, a 6-foot-2 sophomore reserve guard originally from the Bronx, that innocuous play in the N.C.A.A. Midwest Region final ended with a gruesome injury. Ware broke his lower right leg in two places as he landed near the Louisville bench with 6 minutes 33 seconds left in the first half of the Cardinals’ 85-63 victory.Louisville Coach Rick Pitino said that Ware was expected to have surgery Sunday, and that it would take a year to recover. “It was very difficult to look at and watch,” Pitino said. “But he’s a brave young man, because all he kept saying was, ‘Win the game.In a first half loaded with physical play, Louisville rattled Duke with a full-court press, making the Blue Devils work for every shot. Ware, who averages 4.6 points, converted a 3-point play in a brief appearance. He returned with 8:09 to play in the half.
The Cardinals led by 21-17 when Duke’s Tyler Thornton broke free for a 3-point jump shot from the right wing. Ware dashed from the edge of the foul circle and jumped at Thornton to try to block the shot. Spinning in the air, Ware landed with all his weight on his right leg. The lower part of his leg buckled unnaturally, and he slid into the Louisville bench. He lay on his back with the lower leg dangling grotesquely, broken at the middle of the shin.

movie review for mama

jan 6th or the 18th 2013 I went to see Mama, starring Jessica Chastain with black hair spoiler alert: black hair  who proves to be just as intrepid as he is in Game of Thrones, though slightly less incestuous frowny face. Without giving anything away, Mama is about a dead lady Mama, who connects with her surrogate children via vagina-shaped holes in the wall.  To be fair, these holes are more like animat shadows that sort of breathe and spit moths, and the film itself is very scary. I had bruise afterward from jerking around in my seat and knocking my knees on the cup holders, and spent most of the 100 minute thrill ride with my cheek pressed into my companion's neck. Turns out there's not much creepier or more captivating than feral children skittering around like crabs. Mama is produced by Guillermo del Toro, the guy who brought us Pan's Labyrinth, so you can expect elements of fantasy and tenderness, which make the film moving and thought provoking as well as frightening. Aesthetically and story wise, imagine something along the lines of Pan's Labyrinth meets Hansel and Gretel meets The Orphan meets The Ring, and you have Mama. Like most horror movies, Mama loses a lot of steam once you get a good, long look at Mama, herself. But in this case, I felt like the deflation was more due to Mama's humanity than it was to bad make-up or cartoonish special effects  not the same as whatever disappointment you may have felt upon finally seeing the aliens in . By the time we finally see Mama, we understand her  we feel bad for her  and empathy will make you less afraid of anybody. Guillermo del Toro presents Mama, a supernatural thriller that tells the haunting tale of two little girls who disappeared into the woods the day that their mother was murdered. When they are rescued years later and begin a new life, they find that someone or something still wants to come tuck them in at night. The day their father killed their mother, sisters Victoria and Lilly vanished near their suburban neighborhood. For five long years, their Uncle Lucas Nikolaj Coster Waldau and his girlfriend, Annabel Jessica Chastain, have been madly searching for them. But when, incredibly, the kids are found alive in a decrepit cabin, the couple wonders if the girls are the only guests they have welcomed into their home. Universal

slaughter of the african elephants

people should out there with the elephants so when the people come kill them the scientists can stop them from doing it.In china and the other countries in the far east there has been an astronomical rise in the demand for ivory trinkets that no matter how exquisitely made have no essential utility whatsover. An elephants tusks have become bling for consumers who have no idea or simply dont care that it was obtained by inflicting terror horrendous pain and death no thinking feeling self aware beings. Herds are made up of related females and their young, directed by the eldest female, called the matriarch. Infrequently, an adult male goes with them, but those usually leave the herd when reaching adolescence to form bachelor herds with other elephants of the same age. Later, they lead a solitary life, approaching the female herds only during the mating season. Nevertheless, elephants do not get too far from their families and recognize them when re-encountered. Sometimes, several female herds can blend for a period of time, reaching even hundreds of individuals. The matriarch decides the route and has shown the other members of the herd all the water sources she knows, which the rest can memorize for the future. The relations among the members of the herd are very tight; when a female has given birth to a baby, the rest have acknowledged it by touching her with the trunk; when an old elephant has died, the rest of the herd have stayed by the corpse for a while. The famous elephant graveyards are false, but these animals have recognized a carcass of their species when they found one during their trips, and even if it was a stranger, they formed around it, and sometimes they even touched its forehead with their trunks. Mating happens when the female becomes receptive, an event that can occur anytime during the year. When she is ready, she starts emitting infrasounds to attract the males, sometimes from kilometers away. The adult males start arriving at the herd during the following days and begin fighting, causing some injuries and even broken tusks. The female shows her acceptance of the victor by rubbing her body against his. They mate, and then both go their own way. After 22 months of gestation (the longest among mammals), the female gives birth to a single 90-cm-high calf which weighs more than 100 kg. The baby feeds on the mother's milk until the age of five, but also eats solid food from as early as six months old. Just a few days after birth, the calf can follow the herd by foot. Like all species of elephant, the male African bush elephant experiences musth, a period of extreme aggression accompanied with high testosterone levels. A bull in musth has been known to attack anything which disturbs him including his family members, humans, and other passive animals such as giraffes and rhinoceros. In one case a young male African bush elephant has been witnessed killing a rhinoceros during musth.Killing elephants for ivory has been a major cause of the decline of the African elephant population since at least the 1970s. Most of the ivory harvested is imported into China and Thailan. For example, between 1996 and 2002 forty-five tonnes of ivory in transit to China were seized by authorities. China agreed to reduce imports of ivory; however a Chinese official Chen Jianwei has indicated that many Chinese people are confused about the legality of ivory imports

cyberwar

                                      CYBERWAR

the cyberwar is a with the web but its a secret and there are 8 ways to know if you have it.Its like a worm and in the summer of 2010 a programming error send the bug onto the laptop of an lranian scientist. When the scientist later connects to the lnternet, the worm replicates across the web and is discovered. One of the variants escaped from natanz and became public it use data to disrupt the plant it attacks were repeated for several years, and each time the programs varied to make them difficult to stop.

I think if we have scientist that are so good we should break it and stop it it take measures to secures the plant but new attacks are being find.

programmers at the national security agency and in the lsraeli miltary write a beacon program that can map out the workings of the plant.the program is introduced into a controller computer at the plant, possibly by an unwitting plant worker. The worm data back to the intelligence agencies.Through several methods, the new program is inntroduced into the plant's computer
